Zinema 2 approached me about doing a poster for the documentary Bag It that the Whole Foods Co-Op here in Duluth was sponsoring. My idea for the poster was to combine the upside-down bag, water drop and the Bag It logo to form a sort of skull shape. I ran the idea past a few people with mixed results. Some got it and liked it, some didn’t see it at all. I sat on the idea for a while but decided I would use it since the design seemed ambiguous enough to work both ways. Keep the background a solid black… I felt it let people focus on the bag, water drop and logo long enough that they might see the face come out.
